December at the Circus ….

Cupcake Spotlight:

The “Showman” Cupcake

A custom creation, different shades of buttercream combined to look kind of like a circus wheel. That’s what it reminds me of anyway. They turned out really pretty. Vanilla buttercream, yellow cake.

Cocktail Spotlight:

Moet

Since there were many celebrations in this movie, there were a lot of champagne toasts going around so I matched it with my circus cupcakes.

Movie Spotlight:

The Greatest Showman

First Thoughts

If you have read any other parts of my blog, you know I love musicals. So this was right up my alley. I didn’t even have to think about it. And it was coming out around Christmas? Absolutely!

Premise

An original musical inspired by P.T. Barnum’s imagination, The Greatest Showman celebrates the birth of show business and tells the story of a visionary who rose from nothing to become a worldwide sensation.

Verdict

3 out of 5 cupcakes – It was fair. But the music!

It was slightly disappointing. I wanted more, though I can’t quite explain what that more was. It just felt like they didn’t know whether they wanted to do a musical …. Or a movie. And it showed on screen.

I liked the casting, Hugh Jackman is always the best. Zac Efron too. Zendaya was wonderful for a first go round in a role like this.

And the only reason it got as many cupcakes as it did from me is because of the music. I had every melody in my head after the movie and I am trying to find the soundtrack at this moment.

If you’re looking for a decent, feel-good holiday movie to take the family to, I would definitely suggest this movie. Just don’t go expecting fireworks or anything.
