Cupcake of the week:
I struggled to pick a cupcake theme for this week, so I came up with an image of Paris themed cupcakes. You will know why I picked these after you watch the movie.
Cocktail of the week:
Paris cupcakes. Dom Perignon champagne, of course. The perfect cocktail for a Paris cupcake, in my opinion.
Movie of the week:
Me Before You
Must see. I have read this book multiple times. Probably will read it several more times. One of my favorite books by one of my favorite authors, Jojo Moyes. When I was reading it, I thought it would do well as a movie. Glad they agreed with me 🙂
A girl in a small town forms an unlikely bond with a recently paralyzed man she’s taking care of.
4 cupcakes out of 5 – Only got 4 because it is the movie version of a book, it will never live up to the book.
There were some rumblings before it came out, issues with the fact that the man has a disability and contemplates suicide. I felt empathy for the author because that talk was probably not her intention when she was writing this book. But I went in with no preconceived judgements, I read not one review, and went in as a simple lover of the book. And it was wonderful. I was not expecting to laugh as much as I did, but I know the author is funny, I was laughing through the book and she wrote the screenplay so I wasn’t surprised. There was a lot of hard breathing, sobbing, and sniffles throughout the theatre. So be prepared. I thought I was good … since I had read the book so many times, I thought I wouldn’t get emotional. Wrong. It got me right at the end.
A good summertime romantic comedy. All the feels.
